January: Walking in Faith: Power in the blood
For me growing up not knowing my salvation was secure, was extremely damaging. I mean, if one sin that I haven't had the chance to ask forgiveness for will send me to hell, then I am as good as there. This ideology actually inspired my rebellion as a teen. But, guess what? I did a little studying for myself and learned an idea so profoundly contradictory to what I'd been taught that I could not comprehend it!! Get this, you know that old hymn "there is power in the blood, power in the blood" turns out its right on!! The power of Jesus blood allows me to be viewed by God as righteous. When it comes to my sin (which there is a lot of) God sees Jesus, that is what Jesus does for me. All the things that make me unclean and unrighteousness, Jesus carried to the cross and I am free to operate as one of God's holy children. Even more than that, I am able to participate in the divine nature and escape corruption in the world caused by evil desires! What?! Divine nature-- that is supernatural stuff!! Escape corruption--- seriously, this kind of trade-off only happens in the Bible! A man dies for me, and I am blessed in my earthly life, and then I also get to inherit heaven! That is some good news right there!!
