March 26, 2013 Thoughts on Marriage Equality
My ponderings on marriage equality: Yes, I am a Christian, just going to get that out there, the Holy Spirit is my Guide; I absolutely love my friend in Jesus. In addition, I shall share that I believe any sin will be revealed in any individual life, as one seeks and draws near to God. This is the work of the Holy Spirit and not pointing fingers. Now then, let me say that I desperately believe marriage is not an issue a government should have ANY say in. It is absolutely ridiculous to me that anyone has any business in my marriage. Should Chris and I have refused a paper certificate (that cost money -all about the money), and had chosen to take a personal vow to one another, we would be just as married as those with this paper. Marriage is personal. There should be no state license required to be married. It's just you, your love, and a commitment, and if you are a Christian-then God's in there too. "What's government got to do, got to do with it??" Yes, I was singing that With a Tina Turner rasp in my voice... But, what's even more ridiculous is that we have a two-party majority that runs our country based on who believes in this marriage equality and who doesn't. (just stop, marriage is personal) We have an entire population who votes for the Commander of our country based on this marriage issue "gay marriage-no gay marriage," (just stop, marriage is personal) Ahhhhhhhh!! I'm going crazy- this should be completely personal and have zero bearing on political issues. If marriage was not a "government affair" maybe we could move past this and actually get some changes made. Fellow Christians, no one ever won the heart of an unbeliever by throwing the law at them. You're love and your actions speak Jesus, change comes to the world by loving people right where they are. Period. Just stop, marriage is personal.
